ue to converging developments in molecular biology, sensing and information technology, scientists and doctors are increasingly able to continuously monitor bodily functioning, real-time, 24/7. This capacity fuels visions of personalized and predictive medicine, suggesting that deviations in such functioning can be detected and acted upon early on. In this talk I will discuss how such continuous monitoring may actually have major implications for the way we think about and deal with health and disease, inviting an ‘anticipatory mode’ of healthcare, in which many tenets of previous ‘good healthcare practices’ are problematized.
